The team started its first project straight after Jummah salaah on 8th September 2023 which was to provide bunk beds to a local orphanage in Ukunda. The ground contact instructed a local steel company to make 15 bunk beds prior to their arrival to provide to Abu Shuraym Islamic Centre.

Abu Bakr is the principle and founder of the madrassa/ orphanage. There are only 3 classrooms and 10 full time teachers. It has 268 students and 56 who are boarding both boys and girls. The ages range from 9 years to 14 years old. From the 56 there are 18 orphans.

The ground contact ordered and bought in advance 200 Qur’ans, 200 Qaidahs, and one Islamic Hadith book. Distribution was split between Madrassah Abu Shuraym, Madrasat-ul-Sa’ad in M’buani, and the renovated Masjid in Mwatoa.

On 9th September 2023, 4,000 GBP was distributed to 80 widows in the south coast district of Mombasa. The whole team participated in giving out the money in sealed envelopes at a local Madrassa hub.

The team also visited widows who couldn't travel due to medical reasons and even played football with local kids, donating a brand new ball.

Renovated a rural masjid in Ukunda that had no water source. Work included painting, fresh prayer mats, and a new interior ceiling. A water well was also constructed in close proximity for community use.

On 11th October, 60 packages were prepared (£25 each). Recipients included widows and residents from Shamu, Mamanga, Kwani, and Bongwa. An additional £350 was contributed personally by a team member for the recipients.

Located in Diani, this Madrasah has 256 students but only 3 classrooms. The team started the foundation for an additional classroom to provide more room for the kids and teachers.

On 15th September, the team visited a public hospital in Mombasa city and cleared the medical bills for 7 needy patients so they could be discharged.
